The application for this second grant was approved by the European Commission in December 2006 and covers the Basic Engineering study that took place on the TAP project in 2006 – 2008. This included route investigations surveys, preliminary impact assessments in order to prepare for the necessary applications to the various authorities.
Robert Klein, Managing Director for the Trans Adriatic Pipeline said: “I am delighted to have now received the European Commission grant that we applied for in 2006. It is a clear sign of ongoing support from the European Commission of the TAP project”.
TAP is eligible for grant financing from the European Commission (EC) as a project with status of “Common Interest” under the Trans European Energy Networks (TEN-E) programme. The project is supported by the EC as it contributes to the diversification and security of energy supply to Europe, and also promotes the interconnection and development of trans European energy networks.
